7 camping tricks that can make your life easier

I was watching TV the other day, and I couldn’t tell you what movie it was, but there was a lady that had bought a bunch of toilet paper just because it was on sale. I have to tell you that this is the only product I couldn’t live without, and by this, I mean that I don’t want to resort to using other things. I always make sure that I have plenty at home and always take a roll with me when I know that I’ll be doing some traveling.

Why did I start with toilet paper? The fact is that it’s one of the crucial things you’ll be needing during your camping trip. However, since accidents do tend to happen, you’re going to have to protect it somehow. I recommend using a cylindrical Quaker oatmeal tin or pretty much any container that could fit a roll. This way, you’ll only have to cut a slit to take some paper out of the box. This is the first tip I’m going to give you.

Another advice I would like to give you is to take as many spices as possible. There’s nothing I hate more than bland food, and that was something I had to experience when I went abroad for a year to the United Kingdom.

I couldn’t believe just how bland those fish and chips were and the amounts of oil those people use when cooking everything. There’s no taste in the milk or anything else. If you’re a Tic Tac aficionado like I am, you can use the containers to store some spices. This way, you won’t have to make a mess, and you’ll be able to open them with ease.

If you are trying to make a campfire, but you don’t have tinder, just get some Doritos. You wouldn’t believe how those things can light up. Also, in case nobody has told you before, you can make a portable charcoal grill by using an egg carton and charcoal placed instead of the eggs. That’s definitely a fire starter, isn’t it? I have to point out that you don’t have to take your fire sources for granted, so it’s a good idea to take as many matches and lighters as possible. Just make sure to store those matches as you should, because once they’re wet, they’re useless and can make you spend a chilly and lonely night.

Bring a lot of foil with you. Believe it or not, it’s one of the most useful things to have around. You can cook pretty much anything in it, whether you’re making some pasta, preparing meat, veggies, or virtually anything else. If you hate sleeping on the rock hard ground, bring a pad of some kind or use several yoga mats.
